Food Losses and Waste
Reducing food losses and waste is key to building sustainable food systems and promoting healthy diets. By conserving resources, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, and ensuring more equitable food distribution, we can improve access to nutritious foods, enhance food security, and foster a more resilient, eco-friendly global food network.
Food losses and waste (FLW) pose significant global challenges, contributing to hunger, environmental degradation, and economic loss. With nearly one-third of food produced never reaching consumption, this issue strains natural resources, exacerbates climate change, and undermines efforts to achieve food security and sustainable development, impacting communities worldwide.
That is why NFP supports initiatives to reduce FLW as we believe them to be impactful pathways towards more sustainable food systems and healthy diets. This community page highlights various initiatives and insights across the food system. From improved post-harvest handling to processing solutions.
