From 24-26 July, 2023 the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment will take place in Rome, Italy. This event, hosted for the first time, two years after the Summit, will take stock of progress made through implementation of commitments to action from the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit and its contributions to the 2030 Agenda. This online briefing session for the Dutch network will be used for sharing information and expectations. High-level international guests from the UN, and from the Middle-East, Asia and Africa will share their insights and expectations.

"The 2023 Stocktaking Moment will build on the momentum of the Food Systems Summit and will create a conducive space for countries to review commitments to action that were made during the Summit, share stories of success and early signs of transformation, and maintain the momentum for bold acceleration and bold action to further the resilience of food systems, advocate for their adaptation to climate change, ensure they contribute to communities resilience to further shocks and crises and boost the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)."

2023 UN Food Systems Summit Stocktaking Moment

The UN Food Systems Summit held in September 2021 was the first of its kind in several respects: it was the first UN summit to focus on food systems, the first food-related summit involving heads of state in the UN General Assembly, and the first such summit that was informed by an independent Scientific Group.  Food systems require ongoing attention, as evidenced by the widespread repercussions of the Ukraine crisis and the focus on food systems at COP27. A UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, established in early 2022, coordinates follow-up to the summit, including facilitation of food systems transformation pathways at the country level, and will organize the first biannual stocktaking of the summit outcomes and follow-up actions in 2023.

Netherlands

NFP's policy engagement in the Netherlands is primarily oriented towards engaging with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature &amp; Food Quality. NFP has a direct role in engaging stakeholders from private sector, civil society, and knowledge institutions in these policy processes. 
Look out for future updates on NFP Connects, where we will be sharing further information on policy processes produced by international bodies including the UN Food Systems Summit, as well as those from individual countries. In the meantime we invite you to share your ideas and suggestions within the NFP Food Security Policy community.
