Governance of food system transformation with Dr. Chris Béné and Dr. Brenda Shenute Namugumya
The last plenary session of the food systems e-course took place on 6 March 2024. Dr. Chris Béné and Dr. Brenda Namugumya Shenute were the invited guest speakers. Participants had an insightful presentations and discussions on the topic of governance of food systems.
Dr. Chris Béné is Senior Policy Advisor at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). He is currently affiliated to the CGIAR Systems Transformation Science Group and seconded to the Wageningen Economic Research Group (WEcR), at Wageningen University and Research. He has 20+ years of experience conducting inter-disciplinary research and advisory work in different parts of the world (Africa, Asia, Pacific), focusing on poverty alleviation and food security in low and middle-income countries.
Dr. Brenda Namugumya Shenute is Advisor Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships and Food and Nutrition Security at Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation (WCDI). She worked 10 years providing technical assistance to transform the food and nutrition policies, programmes and systems in Uganda. Her expertise lies in policy and systems analysis, implementing multi-disciplinary approaches to food and nutrition security, strengthening government/NGO capacities to engage in multi-stakeholder partnerships, stakeholder engagement and effective collaborations, project and programme implementation.
