Governance of Food Systems Transformation: Presentations and Discussion (Video)

Dr. Chris Béné and Dr. Debisi Araba were the guest speakers of the fourth plenary session of the 2025 food systems e-course. Their presentations and subsequent discussion on governance of food systems transformation are presented below.

The 2025 food systems e-course is almost ending. The fourth and final plenary session held on 26 March 2025 on the topic of the fourth module, governance of food systems transformation.

Dr. Chris Béné, Senior Policy Advisor at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), and Dr. Debisi Araba, public policy, innovation, and strategy expert and visiting research fellow at Imperial College London's Centre for Environmental Policy were the guest speakers of the fourth and final plenary session of the 2025 food systems e-course. They made insightful presentations followed by vibrant discussion based on questions from participants. Presentation #1: by Dr. Chris Béné

Dr. Chris Béné is Senior Policy Advisor at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). He is currently affiliated to the CGIAR Systems Transformation Science Group and seconded to the Wageningen Economic Research Group (WEcR), at Wageningen University and Research. He has 20+ years of experience conducting inter-disciplinary research and advisory work in different parts of the world (Africa, Asia, Pacific), focusing on poverty alleviation and food security in low and middle-income countries. Presentation #2: by Debisi Araba

Dr. Debisi Araba is a public policy, innovation, and strategy expert focused on food systems, environmental sustainability, and entrepreneurship. He is a Visiting Research Fellow at Imperial College London's Centre for Environmental Policy, exploring sustainable food production. Previously, he was Managing Director of the Africa Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) and Africa Region Director at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). He also advised Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture on climate-smart policies. He holds a PhD from Imperial College London, an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and degrees in clean technology and geography. He is committed to ensuring global food security while promoting environmental sustainability. Here is Dr. Debisi’s presentation:
