We are happy to announce that ILRI ETHIOPIA will be receiving an NFP true pricing seed fund grant!
ILRI will use the grant for a true price assessment of five value chains, including beans, tomato, potato and mango, and with an initial focus on the coffee value chain. Findings from these true price assessments and the identification of hotspots of social and environmental externalities, will lead to policy recommendations that feed into the UNFSS Ethiopian National Pathway, within which ILRI is deeply involved.
While conducting these true price assessments under guidance of a true pricing expert organisation, the capacity of IRLI Ethiopia and partners, including Ethiopian government institutions and universities will be built to enable them to perform true price calculations in major Ethiopian value chains independently in the future. This will lead to continued advice to both Ethiopian government and value chain actors for evidence-based decisions that will reduce social and environmental externalities in the food system.
We are glad to be able to make such an important and impactful project possible. With almost half of the fund now depleted, we are excited to see what other projects may make their way to approval. Stay tuned for updates on this and upcoming projects!

Congratulations to ILRI amd thank you NFP for the great work. The presentation from Feye was really enlightening. I can't wait to see the change that will unfold as a result. Green Pillars and Nomawelt Agriconsult will love to apply and collaboratively work with NFP, Nigerian government, key stakeholders for main value chains (rice, maize, beans) to build capacity and advocate for true prices of food in Nigeria.
