Prepare for UNFSS+4: Get involved in transforming food systems!
📅 Save the Date: 27-29 July 2025, Addis Ababa.
Four years after the first United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS), the world is coming together again. Taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the UNFSS+4 Stocktake will bring together governments, civil society organisations, researchers, young people and private sector actors to assess progress, reignite the ambitions and co-create solutions for sustainable, inclusive and resilient food systems.
This event will serve as another key moment to take stock of progress, share learnings, and renew political and practical commitments to food systems transformation. These are all the more important given the fact that geopolitical challenges, ongoing conflicts, and the climate crisis have hindered progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.
In preparation for UNFSS+4, the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub - in cooperation with the Regional Economic Commissions and the wider UN system - gathers progress data from UN member states and non-state actors (see timeline below). These will be used for preparatory publications. The Hub also organises regional preparatory meetings from March to May 2025 (e.g. the Africa regional preparatory meeting, 5-7 May). These meetings, are designed to bring together national presidents, representatives of regional institutions, UN agencies, civil society organisations, academia, the private sector, international financial institutions and other key stakeholders. The aim is to gather inputs that will help shape the organisation of the UNFSS+4.
How can you engage, as an organisation or company in the agriculture and food domain?

What does it mean in practice, improving the food system?
Fortifying Indonesia’s Food System for Better Nutrition
"Nutrition International’s food fortification program plays a key role in Indonesia’s food system transformation by enriching staple foods like rice, wheat flour, and salt with essential micronutrients. This effort targets malnutrition, particularly anemia, stunting, and iodine deficiency. In partnership with the government, industry, and other stakeholders, the program strengthens regulations, streamlines supply chains, and ensures quality control. By doing so, it not only improves public health but also builds a more resilient and sustainable food system aligned with Indonesia’s long-term nutrition and development goals." - E-course participant from Indonesia
