The Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP) recognizes the vital role of biodiversity in building sustainable, resilient, and nutritious food systems. To advance this agenda, NFP partnered with Wageningen University & Research (WUR) to explore opportunities for linking biodiversity and food systems, taking sustainable and healthy diets as a key entry point. The insights from this assignment offer guidance on the support required and highlight concrete opportunities for initiatives and potential partnerships in this critical area. These insights are not only valuable to NFP but are also essential for our broader network, which is why we are committed to sharing them widely.

A new publication on informed consent and data sharing that captures the 2024 learnings of the Digital Agrifood Collective (DAC) has been published. In 2024, the Digital Agrifood Collective continued to explore the topic of data governance and informed consent, exploring whether the collective could add a more practical learning perspective to this work by initiating scoping work for a data sharing pilot. Global leaders in true cost accounting for food share research at COP16 Biodiversity event hosted by CGIAR’s NATURE+

On Friday, November 8, the Netherlands Food Partnership, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Nature and Clingendael, hosted an informal roundtable in The Hague. This gathering brought together professionals from business, civil society, research, and policymaking sectors to address a critical agenda: setting priorities, assessing collective opportunities (and risks) for aligning efforts in addressing current food security and stability issues.

From October 31 to November 2, 2024, the 9th African Livestock Exhibition & Congress (ALEC) took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event welcomed participants from 14 countries, over 100 exhibitors, and nearly 4,000 visitors, reflecting its consistent growth year after year.

Three years ago (before 2021), there was a rising concern by the consumer society in Ethiopia on the quality and safety of milk supplied from one of the major dairy potential areas called Selale, which is found near to Addis Ababa.

With the NL-CGIAR Senior Expert Programme II (SEPII), senior researchers affiliated with Dutch research institutions will have the opportunity to contribute to research by CGIAR, the world's largest research partnership for a food secure future. They will collaborate with international research initiatives working on issues such as strengthening food security in countries with long-term food crises and analysing forgotten crops.
